NCsoft Unveils New Guild Wars Expansion

The last expansion is called Eye of the Night or Eye of the North. ( There are some contradicting articles throughout the internet pertaining to these two names of the new expansion )

Edit : Most of the articles say Eye of the North. Warcry ftl.

It's gonna take us back to Tyria for a conclusion of the Prophecies / Factions / Nightfall scene.

Eye of the North Facts?

  • Targeted at max-level characters
  • Features 18 new multi-level dungeons
  • 40 new armour sets
  • 10 new heroes
  • 150 new skills ( 50 belong only to PvE )
  • Marks the end of Guild Wars
  • To be released around Q3 and is the cheapest add-on

Okay, something to look forward to.

Quoted from the article which can be found here: "...NCsoft are working on a fully-fledged sequel to the MMO, which has been pencilled in for release during 2009/10, and will take place several hundred years after the original Guild Wars."

Guild Wars 2 Facts?

  • To be released 2009-2010
  • Public beta test scheduled 2008 ( omg get me on that beta test )
  • Revamped graphics engine
  • Set 100 of years in the future of the Prophecies and Eye of the North
  • Zone-wide events "likened to World of Warcraft's Battlegrounds"
  • Refined Control System, Oriented for Action and Ease of Use
  • A level cap, no exact word as to how high
  • Playable Races! ( Humans, Charr, Norns, Asuranias, and Sylvarians )

Guild Wars 2 Summary :

"This game will be set several hundred years after GW: Prophecies and Eye of the North, but the main drool factor will be zone-wide events (read, open war in DaoC and Alterac Valley style), combined with refined control system, oriented for action and ease of use. Playable races include Humans, Charr, Norns, Asurians and Sylvarians. Level cap is set, but it is not known at the time, while characters will now progress through the game in a more sensitive way."
