22.5.07 A Day on the Field posted by Pax @ 9:09 pm
I went out to the field after work to play some soccer by myself.
I was surprised at the amount of children occupying the playground.

However, the field was empty and all mine.

After about 40 minutes of kicking the ball around, a small child was walking towards me onto the field.

From a distance he asked, "Can I play with you?"

I was surprised and I responded with a quick, "sure".

So we passed the ball around and it was fun.

I asked him if he's with his friends.

He responded with, "I don't have any friends."

"=O. Really? No way."

"I have school friends!"

"Oh, I see, no friends here. Which school you go to? You go to that one? *Pointing at the Hamilton direction*"

He gazes in that direction and nods his head. "Yeah, I go to hamilton."

"Oh"

He asks me, "You go to Hamilton?"

I answer with a chuckle, "Heh, I used to, I finished school."

"Which school you go to?" ( Misunderstanding my "finished school" part ).

I answer, "I finished school, I work now."

"Work? You finished school? Wow!"

"Yeah"

"So, what do you do after you finish work?"

I laughed, "Haha, I retire."

"Retire?"

"Yeah, travel around the world or sit at home if you're bored."

After passing the ball for a little while, I asked him, "So, you here by yourself?"

And he responds, "No, my sister, she's over there *points*, walking with someone."

"Oh."

I got hungry, so before I left, I asked him what his name was.

He gave an answer that sounded like Charlie, however, his name was actually Shralee.

I'm not sure how to spell it. What an interesting name.

So I gave him my name.

And we parted.
